SCENARIST ANNOUNCES CLOUD AUTHORING
Combines Established Physical Format Workflows with Cloud-based Economy and Efficiency Benefits
NOVATO, CALIFORNIA (May 15, 2023) – Scenarist®, LLC, the developer of Hollywood-standard Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc authoring systems based in Marin County, California announced today Scenarist Cloud, the world’s first subscription-based platform that seamlessly combines established physical format authoring with the proven cloud-based benefits of economy, security, and scalability. Scenarist Cloud eliminates the high cost barriers-to-entry when adding new format services, such Ultra HD Blu-ray title creation, modernizing aging computer and storage systems, or when expanding to meet seasonal authoring demand. The result enables more facilities to engage with Ultra HD Blu-ray authoring, update older systems, as well as continue to service their clients’ entire media output requirements more economically and more efficiently than ever before.
“Even after more than 25 years, the physical formats continue to be an important profit center for major motion picture studios and content distribution companies while providing their customers with the best quality experience and full ownership that is not susceptible to licensing changes or expiration,” said Victor Matsuda, Chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association. “We applaud companies, like Scenarist, that continue their investment in new technologies, such as Scenarist Cloud, that support media companies to produce more titles on disc for a long time to come.”
Hosted on Amazon Web Services, Scenarist Cloud offers Scenarist authoring systems for commercial DVD-Video, Blu-ray Disc, and Ultra HD Blu-ray formats as well as the Ateme Titan encoding platform for Ultra HD Blu-ray encoding in HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Facility owners will no longer need to purchase and continually refresh computer systems, operating software, backup and storage systems to maintain and expand their authoring services; production managers will be able to easily add/subtract systems and storage when necessary for an annual subscription and usage fee to access all the advantages of cloud-based operations including massive bandwidth availability for super-fast and secure file transfers.
“Scenarist Cloud has been in development for the past 24 months to evaluate not only established encoding and authoring processes realized in AWS, but also to analyze cost/ benefit performance of cloud-based operations,” said Chris Neely, managing partner at Scenarist, LLC. “Starting or expanding authoring operations using Scenarist Cloud makes offering Ultra HD Blu-ray and/or scaling other authoring format services not only immediately attainable but enables facilities to be more profitable in the near-term.”
Scenarist Cloud is in late-stage beta testing process with facility clients and creating real-world titles with Scenarist authoring and Ateme encoding in AWS. Scenarist Cloud is targeted for Q4, 2023 availability. Contact info@scenarist.com for more information.
